The Survivor Summit
In 2019 the third AH:LE Creative Summit took on the role as survivor in the supported open studio art making sessions. A survivor may be the last person from a group of people, a survivor may also be one who copes and moves past difficulties in their life. This project explored resiliency in the process. The are many different reactions to adversity, crisis, trauma and/or change. We live in a world full of diversity, each human full of complexities and intersections that define each them.

During the creative summit participants created a piece of art honoring their narrative of survivor in a safe open studio space with others also taking on the call. Art makers were supplied with a foundation and had free access to studio supplies creating their pieces in scheduled open studio sessions. Overall goals of the summit
- to provide a platform for individual narratives
- increase public awareness and acceptance
- providing a safe place for participants to explore and potentially process some struggles around their narrative
